Tracy is a Partner at Walsh LLP who practices in the areas of Business and Corporate Law, Estate Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Wills and Estates, and Agriculture Law.

Tracy understands and has been through many of the same discussions, deliberations, and issues that her clients experience in the process of business succession and estate planning.

As a fourth-generation rancher, Tracy knows a thing or two about the complexities of managing and running a successful business. With her connections and personal passion rooted in the small business and agriculture communities, she takes pride in working directly with the owner and managers of the businesses, advising them in the areas of corporate, commercial, tax, business succession, estate planning, and estate administration.

Having experienced the succession planning process first-hand in the transition of their family ranch most recently to Tracy and her partner, she finds sharing this experience helpful for connecting with clients. Tracy understands and has been through many of the same discussions, deliberations, and issues that her clients experience in the process of business succession and estate planning.

This unique and personal approach to her practice ensures her clients’ needs are taken care of during this process. It’s Tracy’s belief that the success of any estate plan or business succession can be measured by family gatherings. She is proud to say that she still has holiday dinners with her siblings, as did her parents with their siblings.

In addition to the professional organizations related to her law practice, Tracy is also a Professional Agrologist and advises many primary producers and agribusinesses on legal challenges they may face. With her vast experience in this area, Tracy also works with colleagues who are assisting their own agriculture clients with legal issues (e.g. family law, litigation, etc.).

Tracy has presented papers and taught on a number of occasions for organizations including the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association (Alberta branch), Canadian Tax Foundation, and other community organizations. Tracy continues to volunteer her time and assistance with local organizations and remains active in her community.

The ranch is Tracy’s true escape from her practice. When not in heels at the office, Tracy can be found in boots out on the range. She is grateful to have raised two daughters on the family ranch, providing them a connection to the family legacy and grounding them with the same rural roots. Outside her urban/rural lives, Tracy enjoys heading to the mountains for back-country hiking, skiing, and cycling, or capturing wind (not chinook wind!) in a sailboat.
